Table for one was a novel that intrigued me going into it, not the usual romance, but

a book about learning to love yourself and your own company.

You learn in the synopsis that Willow has it all. The job, the man, the house, but then loses them all. This takes a lot longer to happen than I expected, but I loved the pacing of the build-up of it with breadcrumbs thrown in.

The second part to the book was also enjoyable, the complications with friends who are coupled up, learning to find your own way after being in a couple for so many years. When we see some tension with her best friend, Pen, it merely showed that we are all flawed, I could see both of their sides, we all make mistakes and then when we read Willow’s inner reflections when she realised that she may have been a bit self-absorbed, it all felt relatable.

She also meets an Influencer called Naz, whose social media career was about being single by choice and the benefits of singledom, Willow is fascinated by her and the look at the social media/Influencer world was interesting, and I liked that it wasn’t glamorising it, nor was it derisory of it.

Overall, I absolutely adored this book. It had the friendly humour but a lot of heart as well, especially with Willow’s relationship with Carla, which was incredibly special to read, and the flashbacks really explained the essence of Willow.
