Rachale's Reads

Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty

I’ve heard good things about Liane Moriarty’s books and was excited when I got accepted for this on Netgalley.

The synopsis leaves plenty of intrigue and I was compelled to read it almost non-stop, at least after the first few chapters which I found a little slow, but not off-puttingly so.

There are least 10 different viewpoints in this book, and while I am a fan of this style, I think it was too many. Other than Frances, I never really felt like I got to know the characters well enough to really care or sympathise with them.

I also thought that while I was compelled to finish, the last half of the book not as good as first, the build up of the retreats’ ways to almost a cult like gathering was fantastic, it was creepy in all the best ways, but in the ‘main event’ felt a little bit “eh” compared to the build up.

Despite my seeming negativity towards this book, I did enjoy aspects of this book and will certainly give other books by Liane Moriarty a try in the future.
